Sponsorships are delivered as part of your video episode on Spotify and are delivered as part of the audio version off-platform. Most sponsorship categories deliver to all users across both video and audio, and are not personalized to listeners.
Once a sponsorship reaches its end date the sponsorship section will no longer appear in your content – if it’s a baked-in sponsorship that has been stitched into the content prior to upload, it will remain in your episode.
You can analyze consumption of your sponsorship sections through your sponsorships analytics.
To avoid any delivery issues, make sure you’re following Spotify’s Advertising Policies when uploading and publishing sponsorships.
Limited categories
Certain sponsorship categories may not always be eligible for delivery in certain markets or to certain age groups due to local regulations. When you choose a limited category (like Health), your sponsorship will only deliver where that category is permitted by local laws and regulations.
You’ll be required to select a sponsor category beginning December 15th, 2026. If you choose a category that's regulated in certain regions, we'll automatically limit where the sponsorship runs and show you which regions are affected.
What a sponsorship looks like on Spotify
Sponsorships are shown as an organic part of your video episode on Spotify and are delivered as part of the audio version off-platform. Sponsorships reach both your Spotify Premium and Free audiences.
Beginning December 2nd, 2026, your audience will see the following when a sponsorship delivers:
A "Sponsored message" label below the playback controls
Video centered on screen, with comments and other elements hidden until the sponsorship ends
A playback bar showing the sponsorship's progress instead of the episode's
No "Skip ahead" or "Switch to audio" buttons until the sponsorship ends
