Device targeting | iOS, Android, smart speaker | iOS and Android |
Application Targeting | Target or exclude specific applications [ex: Spotify, Apple Watch, Amazon Music] where your promo will be delivered. | No application targeting available |
Position | The position set in the promo will determine where in the episode the promo will appear (such as the first pre-roll spot, or the second mid-roll spot). You also have the option to mark a Promo as "No Position" meaning it will run in any open spot for a given unit type. | No Position selection available - will default to “no position” ie- deliver in the first available spot |
Position Priority | Priority is used in a tiebreaker between positions. If you have two promos tied in position, the promo with the higher priority (1 being higher than 2, for example) will run instead. If the priority levels are tied, our server will alternate them evenly.
Note: When competing with advertisement campaigns for a given location, Megaphone will always prioritize running the ads (either ads entered on your campaign tab or Spotify Audience Network ads). | No Position Priority selection available

Step 3: Choose your targeting
Enter the targeting parameters for the promotion
Content Targets
Select one of the four targeting categories:
Tag
Show
Episode
You can make up to 200 selections within the chosen category. Content exclusions are also supported. Targeting across multiple categories at the same time is no longer supported.
Geotarget now required for all promotions.
Select one country (required)
Optionally, select a city or sub-region within that country
ℹ️ Promotions targeting multiple countries are no longer supported. If you previously ran a promotion across multiple countries, create a separate promotion for each country.
Device Targets
Select whether this promotion should run across all devices or if you want to limit your targeting to either iOS, Android, or both.
Step 4: Upload your file or choose an existing file from your asset library
Upload the creative for your promotion. Make sure your file meets the updated requirements:
Audio
Max duration: 60 seconds
Accepted formats: MP3, MP4 (M4A is not supported)
⚠️ Audio files that exceed 60 seconds or use an unsupported format will not be accepted. If you're transitioning an existing promotion, check that your creative meets the new specs before uploading.
Video
Max duration: 30s
Accepted formats: .MP4, .MOV
⚠️ Video files that exceed 30 seconds or use an unsupported format will not be accepted. If you're transitioning an existing promotion, check that your creative meets the new specs before uploading.
Step 5: Apply tracking URLs
Tracking URLs are now applied at the creative level.
Note: Promotion-level tracking URLs are no longer supported. Any existing promotion-level tracking URLs will need to be moved to the creative level.
Choose to:
Track attribution with Megaphone
Track attribution with third party link
Step 6: Set up clickable promotion (if applicable)
New: Clickable promotions are now configured at the advertisement level rather than the order level. Clickable promotions allow you to append a display unit with a clickable CTA to a standard promotion. If you'd like this promotion to be clickable, set up the clickable unit at the ad position where it should apply.
Fill in the following details:
Title for your promotion
Tagline: appears on the clickable asset of your promotion
URL: this is the destination when users click through on your promotion. Link to the promoted podcast’s show page on Spotify
Step 7: Review and submit
Review all of your selections and click Done when ready.
Note: Auto-save is not supported. Save manually on each page as you go. Selections not saved before navigating away may be lost.
