Streamed impressions show the number of ad impressions measured in real-time on the Spotify player.

How does streaming work?

As the episode approaches an ad break, Megaphone will insert an ad in real-time. If the ad is played in full, a streamed impression will be counted. This makes it possible to determine when an ad has actually been served on Spotify, giving you a more accurate impressions metric.

On other podcast players, impressions are measured via downloads, at the time of episode download. This means that all ads are counted as an impression, whether or not someone actually reaches the ad.

When you enable streaming, you also get additional streaming tools on Spotify; like video podcasts and call-to-action cards for podcast promos.

Will streaming impressions replace my download impressions?

Streamed impressions only apply to podcasts that have enabled streaming and are watched or listened to on Spotify. For performance across all other podcast players, or for podcasts that have not enabled streaming, download impression metrics are shown in a separate column on the Order page.

Reach out to your Megaphone account representative to learn more about streamed impressions or other Spotify streaming tools.
