Setting up Memberships

  1. Go to Memberships.

  2. On the Details step, create up to 3 membership tiers with benefits and prices. You can also sync an existing free version of your show with your membership-enabled show, enable free trials, or upload a welcome clip to thank new members.

  3. On the Payouts step, click Set up payouts.

  4. Set up your Stripe account. Have your tax and banking info on hand.

  5. On the Episodes step, choose the episodes for each tier. You can change these at any time.

  6. Click Launch.

To manage your membership after launch, find Memberships and then click on the Manage tab.

Tip: If you have a free version of your show on another feed, add it under Sync your feeds so both shows appear together on Spotify.

Tiers

You can offer up to 3 tiers in your membership. Each tier has its own price, name, description, and benefits. If this is your first time offering subscriber content, you may want to keep it simple and start with a single tier (you can always add more later).

When you launch, we set prices in other currencies based on the current exchange rate. These prices stay the same until you change your tier price.

Benefits

You can offer these benefits and choose which tiers get each one:

Benefit

What you’re offering

Fewer ads

Fewer ads for members

Bonus episodes

Episodes available only to eligible members

Video episodes

Member-only video episodes

Extended episodes

Longer versions of episodes

Full length episodes

Full episodes for members and previews for non-members

Early access episodes

Episodes available to members before everyone else

Other

A benefit you provide outside of Spotify

You can change your benefits at any time for any tier.

New members get the benefits you choose, your welcome clip (if you add one), and a member badge that appears every time they comment so they can show their dedicated fan status.

Automatically remove ads

If you earn from ads, you can offer eligible members fewer Spotify-inserted ads.

Select Fewer ads as a member benefit and toggle “Automatically remove ads from all your episodes for members.” This allows your fans to hear all your episodes without any Spotify-inserted ads on Spotify (Sponsorships will not be removed). Publish once to everyone, include your ad cue points, and we’ll automatically remove Spotify-inserted ads for your members.

Annual plans

You can enable annual plans, which will apply across all of your tiers.

This feature is not available to creators or members in Denmark or Norway.

Note: Annual plans require a long commitment to your members. In some regions, annual renewal requires members to opt-in again prior to the end of their billing cycle. It’s not possible to disable annual plans or change annual pricing/discounts once you have active annual members.

Earnings

Your earnings data, as well as your general membership performance data are available in the Memberships page, under the Performance tab.

Estimated earnings data is shown in USD.
