Report Builder is an analytics tool in Megaphone that lets you create custom reports for podcast delivery and ad performance. You choose the data you need, apply filters, and export or schedule reports that fit your workflow.

To use the Report Builder, click the Analytics page in the sidebar, then the Report Builder tab. Report Builder offers two types of reports: custom reports and quick reports.

Understanding metrics and dimensions

Each report uses metrics and dimensions to shape your data.

  • Metrics are quantitative values that measure performance over time, such as impressions or downloads

  • Dimensions describe or categorize metrics and let you filter, group, or compare data, by things like platforms or podcasts

Hover over the “i” icon next to any metric or dimension to see a definition.

Creating custom reports

Custom reports let you build a report from scratch using the metrics and dimensions you choose. Your access level for a show affects which data you can include in a report.

You can create reports for:

  • Impressions (ad delivery data): Includes impressions, reach, ad location, and delivery rate details

  • Delivery (consumption data): Includes plays, downloads, and audience engagement metrics

Each report must include at least one metric to run. Note: Available metrics depend on whether you’re using server-side ad insertion or dynamic ad insertion.

Using quick reports

Quick reports are pre-built templates with commonly used combinations of metrics and dimensions.

Available quick reports include:

  • Podcast delivery report: Consumption at the podcast level

  • Episode delivery report: Consumption at the episode level

  • Technology report: Consumption by podcast app

  • Geolocation report: Consumption by country, state, region, city, or designated market area

  • Podcast impressions report: Total ad impressions by podcast

  • Episode impressions report: Total ad impressions by episode

  • Order impressions report: Ad impressions by order and ad location

  • Inventory delivery report: Ad inventory fill and delivery rate

Each quick report includes all entities (podcasts, episodes, campaigns, orders) unless you apply filters. You may still add or remove metrics and dimensions from the template list.

To group results by a time period, add a date dimension like day, week, or month.

Filtering your report

You can filter reports to include specific podcasts, episodes, campaigns, or orders. Available filters depend on the report type.

Impressions-based reports include filters for:

  • Order

  • Campaign

  • Geographic location

  • Episode

  • Podcast

Delivery-based reports include filters for:

  • Episode

  • Format

  • Geographic location

Choosing a date range

You can adjust the time period you want to see in your report by choosing:

  • A custom date range

  • A dynamic range that refreshes automatically using any of these presets:

    • Last 7 days

    • Last 30 days

    • Last 60 days

    • Last 90 days

    • Year to date

To break data out by time period, add a date dimension from the selection modal.

Scheduling, exporting, or saving a report

You can save, schedule, or export reports after creating them.

You can schedule reports to be emailed to users in your organization if you have Admin access. To schedule a report:

  1. Click Schedule

  2. Name your report

  3. Select recipients of the report
Note: You can choose any user in your organization.

  4. Choose a report frequency:

    • Daily

    • Weekly

    • Monthly

  5. Select the date range for the report. Available date ranges depend on frequency:

    • Daily: Since last complete date, month to date

    • Weekly: Last week, month to date, year to date

    • Monthly: Last month, year to date

You can view and manage your saved reports under the Saved Reports tab. Click the report name in Saved Reports to open the report with all filters, metrics, and dimensions pre-filled.

The option to export your report to a CSV file is available after a report creation, by finding the Export CSV button.
