Within the podcasting industry, there are third party companies such as Chartable and Podsights that allow for additional tracking or analytics of your show. Megaphone supports these through a custom prefix field – where you can enter a prefix that will affix to enclosure URLs in the RSS feed for your podcast.

Note: you must first establish a relationship/account with the external company who will instruct you to attach a prefix to the enclosure URLs in your RSS feed. Following the instructions below will allow you to do so, but we always recommend having our team do a spot check via Live Chat once set up.

To get started, you will need to reach out via Live Chat for us to enable customizable prefixes in your organization. Once this is done you will be able to insert these prefixes on your podcasts.

Start by navigating to the podcast you would like to add a prefix to. You can get there through the Podcasts tab on the left side bar, then select your podcast:

After selecting your show, click on the gear icon in the top right corner:

On the Podcast Settings modal, click the “Megaphone Settings” tab. At the bottom of that page you should see a “Custom Prefix” section:

Click the box to “Enable custom prefix for your feed URLs”

Then, in the Prefix box, add the prefix you would like inserted into your RSS feed. Be sure to not have any extra spaces or characters – the prefix should be exactly what you were given by your third party organization. Once you’ve entered the prefix, hit save at the top of the page.

Once you have this prefix saved, it will appear in your RSS Feed before each Enclosure tag. It should resemble the example given below (below is an example of a Chartable prefix):

As always, please reach out to Live Chat with any questions or for us to review your prefixes.
